Automation and Manufacturing Engineer
Job Summary
The Automation and Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for programming CNC machines, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and adding automation to the current manufacturing processes. This person must be able to write and understand CNC programs. MasterCam, MazaCam, and Mazak conversational controls are currently used. The engineer must be able to read and interpret blueprints, read and write programs, choose tooling and work holding to process the part. The position works with the shop floor personnel improve processes and introduce automation.
Reports to: Director of Engineering
Duties/Responsibilities
- Lead the initiative to bring more automation to manufacturing processes
- Create initial machining processes
- Write programs for CNC machines
- Find opportunities for continual improvement
- Troubleshoot and resolve quality issues
- Provide manufacturing time estimates to sales to support quoting activities
- Work with process engineers and quality to find cost reductions
- Carry out all other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
- 3 years’ experience in a similar position, interested in personal development in trade
- Prior experience with robotics and automation
- Mechanical aptitude
- Familiarity using gaging
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Ability to write and edit CNC programs

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to work at CNC machines to prove programs and processes.
